1970s Aino and Alvar Aalto for Artek Paimio Lounge Chair Birch Frame and Seat
This is a Paimio Lounge Chair, originally designed by Aino and Alvar Aalto for the Paimio Sanatorium in Finland in 1932. This particular example was produced by Artek and dates to the 1970s. The frame is comprised of form-bent solid birch lamella, with a seat made of
form-pressed birch plywood.
The chair measures 31.5 inches deep, 23.5 inches wide, and 25.25 inches high, with a seat height of 13 inches. This piece shows wear from previous use, including minor surface blemishes and scratches. Overall, the chair is in good to very good vintage condition. Please see photos.
