This is an Eames Fiberglass Shell for a Side Chair, initially released by Ray and Charles Eames for Herman Miller in 1950. While the silhouette of these shells made its debut in 1948, the advent of the fiberglass shell did not come to fruition until 1950. These particular examples were produced in the 1970s, and the listed price includes one shell seat. We have more than twenty shells available for purchase in this blue colorway. Please note that these are shells only, and do not include bases. Each molded fiberglass shell form features an upholstered seat pad in blue fabric, offering added comfort while maintaining the clean, sculptural profile of the original design.

Each shell measures 18.25 inches deep, 18.5 inches wide, and 18 inches high. Their seat height will of course depend on which type of base they are paired with. These pieces show wear consistent with age and previous use. There may be some light stains or scuffs to the backs of the shells. Overall, these shells remain in good vintage condition.
