C. 1953 Eames for Herman Miller PAW Swiveling Shell Armchair in Lemon Yellow
This is a PAW Armchair, initially designed by Ray and Charles Eames in 1948. This example hails from ca. 1953, and was produced by Zenith Plastics for Herman Miller in the United States. PAW is an acronym that stands for Pivot Armchair with Wood base. The design features a classic Eames fiberglass shell in the lemon yellow colorway that has a rope edge. The seat is perched atop a 4-leg dowel base. This chair features the more uncommon swivel (or pivot) base.
This chair measures 24 inches deep, 24.875 inches wide, and is 31.25 inches tall. It has a seat height of 17.875 inches. The chair has some scrapes to the seat and legs, and there is some discoloration. The base shows signs of repairs over the years. Overall, this chair is in good condition with signs of age.
